DressCodeZanzibar Gallery
DressCodeZanzibar offers one-of-a-kind products handmade by women in Zanzibar, Tanzania using the East African Kanga. Kangas, traditionally worn by Swahili women for hundreds of years, include a Swahili proverb. This proverb, also included on our dresses, communicates a story of history and culture to create "dresses that speak". Each purchase supports the livelihood of a Zanzibari woman.

DressCodeZanzibar hand picks the kangas it uses for their messages - Tanzania is very religious so finding neutral messages can be difficult. We do our best to find balance as the religious ones give lots of insight into the Tanzanian culture, and represent it well. Kanga with the Swahili translating to English as - Heavy creature
